After an undefeated regular season playing teams on the east coast Schenectady Legends came west to Illinois for the IBA Playoffs. A semifinal matchup against the five-time champion Kankakee County Soldiers awaited, a matchup not seen since the IBA Spring season final in June 2012.
Despite losing their final three games of the season, the Soldiers came into the game confident playing on their home court. A back-and-forth opening quarter saw Schenectady take a 35-31 lead at the break. That lead grew to 12 points by halftime. Kankakee County battled and fought their way back, but could not complete the comeback. The Legends advanced to the championship game with a 137-128 victory.
Schenectady (12-0) will face third-seed Kenosha Ballers (9-4), who pulled off a minor upset over the St.Louis Trotters in their semifinal. Game time is scheduled for 3:15 PM at the KVPD RecCenter in Kankakee.
