Schenectady Sweep Can-Am Clash, Take Over First Place

IMG_0215With a pair of victories this weekend, the Schenectady Legends improved to 6-0 and now sit atop the IBA standings. Clayton Longmire led the team with 23 points in the 143-120 win over the Toronto 3D to sweep the weekend ‘Can-Am Clash.’

In a complete team effort the Legends had eight different players in double digits. Co-captains Lloyd Johnson (21 points) and EJ Gallup (20 points) continue their strong play on the court adding plenty of offense. Gallup is now at 990 career-points for the Legends, just 10 shy of becoming the second player (Johnson) in franchise history to score 1,000 points.

For a second-straight night Shamar Coombs led the way for Toronto scoring 41 points.

The Legends are back in action on Friday night against the Jersey G-Force at Gloversville HS as they continue their tour of the capital region. Game time is scheduled for 7 PM.

Charity Update

The Schenectady Legends announced the team has raised over $1200 for community high school booster and sports programs at Scotia-Glenville High School and Canajoharie (youth center) in their two-game Can-Am Clash series against the Toronto 3D in IBA action this weekend! The money was raised through ticket sales, sharing of concession stand duties, raffles and other exciting ideas.

“Rim rocking pro ball with community purpose” continues to take the Mohawk Valley by storm with home games played in Schenectady, Fulton and Montgomery counties. This weekend proceeds brings the 2014 season total fundraising to over $3000 on way to the goal to $7500.
